Dorinbo Jr. or Dorinbo III is a Kannushi - a Japanese priest who serves in Myoken Temple, the last remaining shrine dedicated to the Heavenly Cosmic Master - Amenominakanushi. He is the only known agent of Amenochibiko. He is known by many as the One-Eyed Hawk, the dubious 'Tengu King', who collects and/or hunts down lesser yokai, particularly those of violent nature. Like his ancestor- the Original Dorinbo, Dorinbo Jr. is the uncle of the 21th century's Musashi.  Along with being her uncle, he's also her guardian and mentor.

In the past, Dorinbo was the sub-leader of the Yazokune syndicate - the third most influential modern-era yakuza organization, prior to its disbandment.

He is a major supporting character in the Antyverse.

Appearance[]

Dorinbo III is an average-looking old japanese native, the exceptionate traits being the long and unsightly scar running across his nose. His usual attire is a classic 1970s accountant suit. While preforming his duties as a Kannushi, he wears a typical Jōe uniform. In his hayday, Dorinbo was an imposing and attractive man with sleep-depraved eyes that caused an odd sense of arousal in any female he gazed at.

Personality[]

Though it's unknown what his upbringing was like, according to his father's ghost, Dorinbo III's never-changing trait is his bold noblemanship. He disliked bullies and spineless cowards more than anything. It is implied that he later joined the yakuzabut initially with the intent to root out the corruption of Japan using effective but unorthodox methods. However, by becoming accustomed with the dishonorable and immoral acts that were often commited around him (or that he sometimes carried out to ascend the ranks), Dorinbo grew indulgent of his influential prowess, intimidating factor and money.

After the unfortunate events that distabilized his syndicate, eventually leading to their complete disbandment - with some of the members even winding up in prison, Dorinbo III spent most of his prison years as a lost and purposeless soul.

Notably, after the Spirit Guardian of Myoken Temple, Amenochibiko, 'pulled him from the dark' and made him a priest of Myoken Temple, Dorinbo III discovered a newfound joy in helping out others in need instead of hunting those he detested. He gained a profound wisdom which made him capable of objectively seeing his mistakes.

Dorinbo III has made peace with his past, but he tries his hardest to keep his niece from going down a similar road. He won't stay his hand in punishing her if he deems it absolutely necessary.

History[]

Dorinbo III became a member of the Yazokune group, somewhere around the same time when Issei Hyuoudou-Gremory made his first contact with the supernatural. He quickly proved himself to be a beyond competent asset of the organization and with no shortage of ruthless tactics, he ascended to the position of the sub-leader.

For several years, the Yazokune would remain mostly unhindered. However, as their power and self-indulgance grew, many vengeful spirits and malevolent yokai began targetting them, leading to the Nigata Perfecture Massacre, where nearly half of the syndicate was slaughtered in its own headquarters. Though he survived, Dorinbo III was found by locals and handed over to the authorities after his identity was found out. He spent the next decade of his life in prison, though his original sentence was said to be double that.

Even after serving his sentence, Dorinbo III was still isolated from society and he was often hounded, either by former members of the syndicate, vengeful spirits or evil yokai. During a failed attempt to end his own life, Dorinbo was found by the sacred spirit of the North Star - Amenochibiko. The small goddess healed his wounds. She gave him a chance at redemption and an eventual peaceful death if he became her servant. Dorinbo, seeing no other preferable option, reluctantly took the deal. Ever since, he has been carrying out the Amenochibiko's will faithfully.

Powers & Abilities[]

Dorinbo III had no supernatural abilities since birth. His speed, strength, endurance and insight, while impressive, are still just above the average powerless human. Despite that, he has been able to defeat some very low-tier supernaturals with cleverness and strength.

Master Combatant: Dorinbo's combat skill is enhanced to that of the very zenith of natural human potential. He is able to take down multiple human grand-masters. He is well beyond many of the human martial artists and is also able to learn new martial arts in a very short period of time. He has also shown to be capable of taking down superhumans/supernaturals with this ability.

Peak Human Accuracy: Dorinbo III is capable of achieving smaller and distant targets depending on the location. His brain is hardwired for advanced accuracy even more so than that of most expert archers. Additionally, the his aim is obviously not enhanced, it is just at the peak of human efficiency. It's said by peers and/or foes that people like Dorinbo seldom miss a single/multiple targets.

Master Tactican: As the former sub-leader of the former third strongest syndicate, Dorinbo III is a great tactician and strategist. Often, he has beaten even some demonic commanders by pure outsmarting and outmaneuvering.

Equipment[]

Healing Potions: Dorinbo III has a stack of many herbal mixtures enhanced by the Amenochibiko. These potions can heal almost any injury or ailment, though if the death occurs in a supernatural way such as if the person's fate was prescribed to die at that moment, the potions would be ineffective.

Lei Ting Charms: Dorinbo III was given the ability to mass-produce these charms in order to drive away and/or supress a violent spirit or kami. He can also in some cases, seal an entity inside one of the charms. The charms also increase Dorinbo's defense against supernatural attacks.

Divine Shide: Dorinbo III can summon long zig-zag shaped paper streamers which he can manipulate to wrap around his target, usually putting them asleep (if they are human) or completely purifying them (if they are a low-tier yokai). He can also wrap them around himself, using them as a shield that can protect his body from supernatural attacks.

Night Owl Form: Dorinbo III's Kami Form, which he can only access after midnight and before dusk. With the Amenochibiko's blessing, Dorinbo III gains the formidable power of a Kami, allowing him to easily dispatch groups of yokai and evil spirits. In this form, Dorinbo III grows taller and more muscular, gaining a pale white mask with one eye, as well as additional muscle mass and bones.
